Joe Peña
Joe Peña, singer, songwriter, guitar player, harmonica player, drummer and one of the most talented musicians from Tucson, Arizona, is playing music since he was a young boy.
Influenced by Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Neil Young - and later by The Jayhawks, Wilco and Uncle Tupelo - Joe Peña's voice sounds a lot like Richard Buckner mixed with Johnny Cash or Neil Young mixed with Tom Waits.
He writes dark and brooding songs that complement his voice and acoustic guitar and harmonica playing.
With his band Greyhound Soul, founded 1994,he has recorded four incredible albums and toured with them a lot over Europe.
Greyhound Soul earned 4 TAMMIES (Tucson Area Music Awards) for "Best Rock And Roll Band" and "Best Alternative Band" as well as "Best Male Vocalist" (Joe Peña) in 1998 and 1999.
"The sound of the desert is the sound of Greyhound Soul". (Howie Gelb, Giant Sand)
